Ao Andon.
It was a first cosplay project I completed. It started when I looked through my Japanese bestiary and thought that this demon would be to make a costume of. With my favorite holiday - Halloween - approaching I imminently started working.
I designed the look to be historically accurate but with modern elements. Then I made a prototype of the andon and started translating my Japanese haori pattern. It took me way longer than I expected to figure it out but at the end I succeeded. I sewed and painted the rest of the pieces to finish the look.
Then came time for the photo shoot with my friend Paulina Pikiel. We went to a nearby park to take the photos. It was a lot of fun! But since it was the middle of October it was absolutely freezing. Making this costume was hard but I loved it and definitely plan to pursue costume making and cosplay further.
Take a look at the photo shoot and process below!
